Wait list means that we are currently full for that session. You are welcome to sign up for the wait list, but a spot will only open up if someone else cancels their registration. You are placed on the wait list in the order that you registered and we will contact you if you are next in line for a spot. Some wait lists are very long and a spot is not guaranteed to open up. For summer camp, however, each year we invite all people on the wait list to a Pre-Registration Party in December so that they will be able to register for next year's summer camp before the general registration opens in January.

Lil Hatchlings Spring Tuesdays (10-23 mos w/adult)

Explore the zoo and all of its wonders with your little one. Classes are designed to help your child learn, explore, socialize, be creative and have fun! Children will experience up-close animal encounters, explore animal exhibits, and partake in tiered sensory activities that are designed for your zoo baby!

You may not bring additional children that do not fit the program age group or additional adults. To register multiple children of the correct age, simply "Add to Cart" for each one separately.

 
 
Lil Hatchlings Summer Wednesday (12-23 mo w/adult)

Rainforests, deserts, and ponds, oh my! Your zoo baby will learn about animals and their habitats during these fun and interactive summer classes. From what an animal eats to where it makes its nest, burrow or den, your child will learn about all kinds of animal homes. During each class, grown-ups and babies will play games, engage in sensory activities, create a craft and meet very special animal guests.

Dates: June 17, 24, July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29. This session is seven classes.

TODDLER TIMES

 
Toddler Time Summer Tuesdays (2-3 with adult)

Run like a cheetah! Jump like a frog! Fly like a bird! Slither like a snake! Come explore and move like animals this summer at Prospect Park Zoo. Each day, toddlers and caregivers will get to meet and interact with special animal guests, explore our free-play sensory stations and visit a zoo exhibit. Come join the fun this summer!

Dates: June 16, 23, 30, July 7, 14, 21, 28. This session consists of seven classes.

SUMMER CAMP 2015

Register your child for summer camp at the Prospect Park Zoo! With programs for everyone, we offer unique experiences for all ages. This summer's participants in the week-long camps will get experiences to last a life-time, as well as healthy snacks, a camp t-shirt, and parents will get access to participant-exclusive photo-blog of daily camp activities.
Registration begins, Friday January 2 at 10am.

Your child should be entering the following grades:
Kinderzoo - Pre-K & K (starting at age 4)
Week of Wildlife - 1st & 2nd grades
Zoo Explorer - 3rd, 4th, & 5th grades
Junior Scientist - 6th, 7th, & 8th grades
Teen Internship - 9th, 10th, 11th, & 12th grades

 
Kinderzoo (Entering Pre-K or K, age 4 & up)

Kinderzoo campers spend the week exploring the zoo and discovering the diversity of the animal kingdom! Adventures and mystery will lead your camper through rainforests, temperate forests, wetlands, and desert regions. We will learn about animal diets, families and adaptations while playing games, making crafts and meeting animals up-close.

One week per camper. Child must be at least 4 years old & entering Pre-K or Kindergarten in the fall of 2015.

Jump into an epic zoo story this summer! During this 4-day camp, participants will look at the zoo the way a great story teller would. We will get to know the characters (our animals), the setting (their habitats), and the fast-paced plot (their interesting behaviors and interactions)! At the end of each day, campers will re-tell their own zoo story through puppetry, theater, or a storybook of their own.

One week per camper. Child must be entering 1st or 2nd grade in the fall of 2015.

Zoo Explorer (Entering 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade)

Come adventuring at the zoo this summer! In Zoo Explorers camp we will go on safari to the outback and see Dingoes, travel to Africa to observe baboons, search out poisonous frogs, and discover all about these amazing animals. Through games, team challenges, and crafts, you’ll learn about the adaptations and abilities animals have so they can survive in their environment.

One week per camper. Child must be entering 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade in the fall of 2015.

 
 
Junior Scientist (Entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade)

Want to be a scientist when you grow up? In this camp, you'll explore the exciting sciences that we need to run a zoo and keep our animals healthy. Biology, ecology, animal behavior and more all go into running a zoo and being a good scientist. You'll see how our keepers work hard to study all the animals, and you and a team of other campers will create an enrichment project for some of the animals in the zoo!

One week per camper. Child must be entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade in the fall of 2015.

 
 
Teen Internship (Entering 9th-12th grades)
   Regular Price: $1,600.00 Member Price: $1,400.00

Find out what it's like to work in the zoo. During this 3-week intensive program, tweens and teens will try out a variety of jobs in the zoo. They'll spend part of their day cleaning exhibits or preparing food in the commissary with the keepers. Campers will also have the opportunity to conduct an animal behavior study, engage in an urban ecology research project, and design an exhibit component in the zoo. Guest speakers to the camp may include the zoo vet tech, urban ecologists, animal curators, exhibit designers, zoo actors, and more.

Teen must be entering 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade in the fall of 2015. We also require proof of a negative TB test within the last year.
