Summer Camp
At the Queens Zoo Summer Camp, children will explore the hidden gems of the Americas! Campers will discover wildlife and wild places through fun and exciting investigations, games, animal encounters and crafts. Join us for a week long animal adventure!

Extended care is available from 3:00-5:30 PM after all of our camp sessions! If you would like to register, please do so by adding Extended Care to your cart during camp registration.

Kinderzoo (Entering Pre-K or K, age 4 and up)

Animal Senses (Session A)
Campers will explore animal senses and adaptations! Crafts, hands-on activities, and animal guests are all part of the fun!


Animal Super Heroes (Session B)
Animals have some amazing super powers. Your own little super camper will explore animal habitats and adaptations! through craft, hands-on activities, and animal guests throughout the week.


Sessions A & B are different from each other so you can choose to send your child to camp for two non-repeating weeks! Price is per week.
Child must be at least 4 years old & entering Pre-K or Kindergarten in the fall of 2017.

Week of Wildlife (Entering 1st or 2nd grade)

Animal Music (Session A)
Children will listen, learn and create as they explore music made by animal groups like mammals, reptiles, & birds. Each day is filled with exciting games, crafts and fun science explorations.

Zoo Academy (Session B)
Campers will graduate in the academy of fun and learning at the zoo. Each day camper will explore wildlife and wild places through exciting experiments, fun games and crafts.

A Search for Life
Campers will spend the week exploring animal exhibits and wild habitats, conducting wild experiments and investigating behaviors of animals like our birds and bears. Through creative hands-on activities, campers will discover the amazing diversity of life in the zoo..

Surf and Turf
Campers will become conservation scientists and explore animals on land and in the water. Each day they will learn about animals in the zoo through science experiments, behavior studies, exhibit design projects and more.

Cool Science Day Camp - What Animals Eat

No school? Come to the zoo instead! Children will investigate what animals eat in the wild and see how we feed them in the zoo. Participate in hands-on activities measuring out foods, make some special enrichment treats for the animals and meet some animals in a close-up encounter.

Cool Science Day Camp - Animal Tracker

Children become field scientists as they learn to track and find animals. Children will explore the zoo looking for hidden signs of animals. As they find animal tracks, hidden food and other signs they will learn to identify what animals were visiting. As part of the experience children make their own track samples, play predator prey games and meet some animals in this exciting day-long camp.

Cool Science Day Camp - Junior Vet Tech

Welcome to Junior Vet Techs! Under the guidance of the staff and the Queens Zoo licensed Veterinarian Technician (Vet tech), our junior Vet Techs can develop their basic Vet Tech skills and techniques. Learn to examine animal x-rays, make and view slides. Our Junior Vet Techs will use their 5 senses to conduct animal behavioral studies, identifying different animal sounds and conduct research on one specific animal.

This program is for children ages 4-9.

Cool Science Day Camp - Campaigns for Conservation

Children can learn to protect some of their favorite animals by creating their own campaigns that support conservation for wildlife. Through explorations of some of WCS's campaign projects like 96 elephants and NY Seascapes chidren will see how important it is to support wildlife in anyway that they can. They will visit and learn about our special SSP animals in the zoo and meet some of our animal ambassadors. Children make up their own slogans and posters about animals and will have an opportunity to display them and promote conservation to parents at the end of the day.

This program is for campers ages 4-9.

Toddler Time (ages 2-3 with adult)

In this nature inspired series, toddlers & their caregivers connect together with the natural world through live animal interactions, dramatic play, sensory stations, songs, & arts & crafts. Each week will provide wonderful opportunities for exploration around the zoo and help foster your child's inquisitive nature and independence.

One caregiver is required to attend with each registered child. Additional siblings are not permitted in order to maintain an appropriate and comfortable setting for the participants and flow of the program.

Family Breakfast with the Birds (all ages)

Join this fun early morning event. This is a great time to look for birds as they prepare to fly south. After a light breakfast, you have a chance to explore the zoo. Meet a bird and learn to identify birds by their beaks, feet and body shapes. Children will make their own binoculars (parents can bring their own or borrow ours) and we will visit areas in the zoo where we can see a variety of different birds.

Pajama Story Time - Haunted Habitats (all ages)
