AZA CEC Regional Meeting
Price: $15.00
Theme: Diversity & Inclusion

Afternoon Workshops (to be selected on next page):
  1. Creating Access Programs - Moderated by staff from the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, this session will focus on how to create or refine access programs at your facility. Learn about the steps that the Museum has taken to create access programs and then apply best practices into your own work. Participants will have time to work in small groups to revise/create access experiences to bring back and implement at their own facilities.
  2. Staff Development and Professional Learning - Participants will identify common goals for professional learning with zoo and aquarium education staff. What are the current trends that our staff needs to know more about? What are topics/skills that staff could improve upon? What does effective ISI education staff training look like? Participants will then revise/create a plan for professional learning at their own facility, receiving peer feedback and support throughout the process.
  3. Workforce Development - We will discuss various strategies for recruiting, hiring, retaining, and elevating a diverse workforce. We will review the newly created WCS STEM Career Lattice program as a case study on elevating young talent in your organization. The majority of this session will be spent developing a diverse talent pipeline for your department, with the input for your CEC colleagues. WCS recently launched a diverse talent employment pipeline, and we suspect that other organizations have something similar. If you do and would like to add to the conservation, please reach out to Karen Tingley before the meeting.
