Summer Camps
For camp sessions that are currently full, you can register to be placed on the wait list. You are placed on the wait list in the order that you registered and we will contact you if a spot becomes available.

Toddler Mini Camp (2-3 years old with adult)

In this mini-camp, toddlers and their caregivers will get a sneak peek of what camp is really like. Each day, there will be a different theme with animals, exhibit visits, movement activities, and a craft. Our littlest campers will even get their own camp t-shirt.

Campers spend the week exploring the many ways humans and animals interact! Campers investigate jobs from farmers to conservationists through hands-on activities, Zoo adventures, art projects and animal guests every day.

One week per camper.
Campers must be entering Pre-K or Kindergarten in September 2018 and at least 4 years of age.

Week of Wildlife (1st & 2nd grades)

Campers spend the week exploring the zoo and investigating animals around the world! Adventures and mystery will lead your camper through habitats and biomes, meeting animals along the way. Hands-on activities, Zoo expeditions, and animal guests help guide our discoveries every day.

Campers must be entering 1st or 2nd grade in September 2018.

Zoo Explorer (3rd, 4th, 5th grades)

Campers investigate the unique strategies animals utilize to survive and thrive around the world. Through animal themed challenges, animal encounters, and hands-on activities, campers gain an appreciation for just how tough animals can be.

One week per camper.
Campers must be entering 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade in September 2018.

Junior Keepers (6th, 7th, 8th grades)

Enrich your summer by getting to know the ins and outs of zoo keeping! Through hands-on activities, group work, and animal encounters, campers discover what it takes to be a keeper at the Zoo.

One week per camper.
Campers must be entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade in September 2018.

Careers in Conservation (9th-12th Grade)

During Careers in Conservation, teens will spend two weeks learning about a wide range of careers in conservation at the Wildlife Conservation Society. From discovering what it takes to care for exhibit animals, to understanding the complex system of flora around the zoo grounds, teens will come away from this experience with a well-rounded introduction to many aspects of working in the field of conservation. Activities include animal behavior studies, urban ecology research projects, and exhibit design. Guest speakers from around WCS will also be a part of this program.

Participants must be entering 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade in September 2018.

Exploring the Wild

Take a walk on the wild side! Families discover amazing animal adaptations and survival strategies around the Zoo through fun activities and live animal encounters. Children and caregivers get up close to various animals in the Zoo, help prepare animal treats and understand how keepers care for them each day.

This program is for children ages 6-10. Tickets are per person, and children must be accompanied by an adult.

Family Breakfast with the Animals

Who wakes up the animals at the Central Park Zoo? What do they have for breakfast? Following a light breakfast and animal-themed activities, children and caregivers will find answers to these questions when we visit the exhibits and watch as animals receive their breakfast!

Mother's Day Celebration (Ages 2-10 with adult)

Celebrate Mothers' Day here at the zoo! On this day dedicated to moms, families will meet a variety of zoo animal moms and their babies. We'll make tasty morsels for some super animal moms and go on an animal moms scavenger hunt that concludes with meeting a special animal guest. We'll then make a special Mother's Day craft and enjoy a yummy treat.

This program is for children ages 2-10. Ticket includes one adult and one child.

Nature Explorers
Calling all explorers! At Nature Explorers Camp, we'll get up-close to all the wonders Central Park has to offer, including flora and fauna, exhibit visits, and animal encounters. Warning - explorers might get messy!

Animal Engineers
Calling all engineers! At Animal Engineers Camp, we'll discover amazing feats of animal engineering and design our very own projects inspired by nature. Campers will visit the zoo, meet animals up close, and have fun engineering like animals.

Little Zoo Vets (ages 8-12)

Ever wonder what it would be like to be a zoo veterinarian? What do you do when a tiger has a tooth ache or an elephant has a sore foot? How do you anesthetize a fish or an aardvark? Does a walrus say "ah"? In this afterschool class, students will learn about the different aspects of zoo veterinary medicine taught by WCS veterinarian Dr. John Sykes. Classes will involve real veterinary medicine equipment and supplies. Students will gain an appreciation of what zoo veterinarians do every day and how animals at the zoo are cared for. Topics range from physical exams and anesthesia to internal medicine. Parents are welcome to observe the classes or drop-off.

Dates: Thursdays, October 11, 18, 25, November 1, 8, 15*

*Make-up date November 15th will only be utilized if, barring unforeseen but unavoidable animal emergencies, our head veterinarian Dr. Sykes is unable to attend class. We will notify registered participants with as much notice as possible if we must use this make-up date.

Explore issues of wildlife conservation with Central Park Zoo staff, experience the zoo in a unique way, and see our exhibits and animals through an expert's eye. At these programs, you'll also have an opportunity to meet and mingle with other wildlife devotees.

Wake up with the Central Park Zoo before it opens! Following light breakfast fare, chat with a keeper and learn about our animals, then visit an exhibit where you'll watch the keepers give them their own breakfasts.

Zoo Views Photo Series (18+)

Grab your camera and join our morning photography program to capture the perfect shot! After learning the tricks of the trade from our animal staff, you'll head out to the zoo before it opens to take exclusive photos under the guidance of our resident wildlife photographer. Animals will be enjoying seasonal enrichment with beautiful Central Park as the setting!

This program is for adults ages 18 and older. Ticket is per person.
