PPZ Early Childhood Programs
In Jr. Zoo Club you and your little one will enjoy a wild morning as you meet animals up close, play, sing and explore the Zoo together alongside new friends!

Feline Feast - November 19,2023
Do you love cats? We have some of the best in Brooklyn! Join us at the zoo to learn about different types of wild cats, their habitats, what they eat, and the amazing adaptations that allow them to thrive in ecosystems around the world. You’ll enjoy sensory activities, storytime, and meet animals up close in this caregiver and me program. This program is families with children ages 2-5.

Aquatic April - April 7, 2024
What do animals that live under the water need to survive? Explore underwater adaptations with your little one through sensory activities, storytime and a live animal encounter. Visit some of our aquatic animal exhibits and learn about the different types of habitats they might live in.


Mother's Day at the Zoo - May 12, 2024
Celebrate Mother's Day at the Prospect Park Zoo with the whole family! Join us for a special program honoring the amazing moms in the animal kingdom. This year we'll explore how pollinators help make fruits and flowers and meet an animal ambassador up close! All ages.


Ticket includes one adult and one child. For additional child or adult participants please purchase an additional ticket.

 
PPZ Birthday Parties
Make your child's birthday wild at the Zoo with animal guests! Up to 30 friends and family can join the fun.

A non-refundable deposit is required to book. If you have questions, please contact the Birthday Coordinator prior to booking at ppzbirthdayparties@wcs.org.

An extension to your party time may be added for an additional fee.

There's no better place for a birthday party than the Zoo! Every 90 min party is visited by 3 animal guests, a trip to the barn or pond to feed animals, and an experienced educator will work with you to make sure the animals and activities are ones that make this an unforgettable birthday for your child.

A non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a birthday party at the Prospect Park Zoo. If you have questions, contact the Birthday Party Specialist prior to booking online at ppzbirthdayparties@wcs.org.

Submitting this form reserves your birthday party date & time & requires a non-refundable deposit. The Birthday Party Specialist will reach out to you within 3 business days, at which time you will have the option to add on party time for an additional cost. The price listed above is for up to 30 people, including the birthday family.

Insect Extravaganza - October 29, 2023
Discover the important role of insects in our ecosystems. Once dominating earth millions of years ago, their myriad of forms and adaptations will astonish you. Participants will be examining insects up-close through bug viewers and microscopes to distinguish their different features. For those interested in entomology, learn about netting and collection techniques.

Colossal Fossils - December 10, 2023
Are you fascinated by creatures of the past? Join us to explore prehistoric animals like dinosaurs and compare them to animals alive today - like the peacocks roaming the zoo. You will discover how certain adaptations have helped a species survive in this modern world, meet animals up close, and explore the zoo in this new, naturalist program!

Mossy March - March 17, 2024
There is a hidden world right beneath us, in the form of tiny plants called moss! These small plants can be found almost anywhere and they are essential for the survival of many animal species. Join us for a walk in Prospect Park to observe some local species and to meet an animal that uses moss to survive.

Animal Folk Tales​ - October 9, 2023
Come explore indigenous myths and legends of the animal kingdom! In this one-day camp, we'll be learning about the traditional stories and folklore of indigenous cultures from North America. We’ll be celebrating our animals, meeting some up close, acknowledging the Indigenous caretakers of these lands, and their incredible stories.

Campaign for Wildlife - November 7, 2023
Are you passionate about helping wild animals? Join us at the Prospect Park Zoo for this one day camp to learn about what WCS does to protect wild animals and how you can too. You’ll meet animals up close, explore the zoo, and help create a campaign to educate zoo visitors on what they can do to protect wildlife near and far! 

Wildlife Makers - January 15, 2024
Every day, animals face challenges in the wild and it’s up to you to tinker, design, and create something great to help them. During this camp, you will meet animals up close and use everyday materials in exciting ways and through open-ended exploration and experimentation find creative solutions to some real world concerns about the animals in our care.

Monsters and Mythical Creatures - April 10, 2024
We’ve heard the legend of the Loch Ness and tales of the cry of the Banshee, but where do these myths come from? In this camp you’ll have a chance to meet some animals who have inspired myths and legends throughout the world! Through up close animal encounters, crafts, and story-telling, you will help build on the legends!


This camp is for children in 1st - 5th grades. 

This program includes walking outside on uneven surfaces.

Like to watch cool animal videos? Want to make one of your own? This week is your chance to create your own awesome animal videos as we work on teams to plan, film, and create some short clips that we'll share with caregivers on our final day.

Turtle Takeover (Ages 6-9)

Come explore the world of turtles and their diverse habitats. Meet turtles up close to discover the differences between tortoises and terrapins and what makes turtles so special. Learn about the threats they face and how scientists at the zoo are conserving some of the most endangered turtles.

Predators! | ¡Depredadoras! - December 9, 2023
Come meet our extraordinary predators and learn about predator-prey relationships through hands-on activities. You’ll meet live animals in the classroom and create enrichment for a predator in the zoo. / Ven a conocer nuestros depredadores extraordinarios y aprende sobre las relaciones depredador-presa a través de actividades prácticas. Conocerás animales vivos en el salón de clases y crearás enriquecimiento para un depredador en el zoológico. Ages 6-9 years old. 

Animal Families | Familias de Animales - May 11,2024
Celebrate mother’s day weekend at the zoo! You’ll discover how different animals care for their young in this unique family program by meeting live animals in the classroom, participating in fun activities and making a special treat for an animal family. ¡Celebra el día de las madres con nosotros en el zoológico! Descubre cómo diferentes animales cuidan a sus crías en este programa familiar único. Conocerás animales vivos en el salón de clases, participarán en actividades divertidas y harás un regalo especial para una familia de animales. All ages.

Have a spooktacular time at the zoo - Girl Scout style! Activities will include Spooky Science Experiments, badge activities, live animal encounters, a costume parade, and a patch for every girl. Come and celebrate 30 years of fun at the Prospect Park Zoo!

Girl Scout Earth Day Celebration (Grades K-12)

Are you the next Conservation Scientist? Do you dream about working with animals? In this program, you will complete activities toward animal-related and STEM Careers badges, talk to some amazing women in conservation and the animal care field, meet an animal, sing songs, trade SWAPS and receive an event patch!
