Toddler Camp provides a welcoming and safe experience for children and their adults to learn together through inquiry and play.

Food for Thought
Each day of Food for Thought Toddler Camp gives your little ones the chance to explore the different things that animals eat in a child-centered learning space. In Toddler Camp we recognize that young children learn through play, so we encourage you and your toddler to engage together in hands-on activities that let early learners use all their senses and celebrate their natural curiosity. We will provide guidance and support for you, as an adult participant, to engage in and enhance your toddler’s learning.

One ticket covers one adult and one child. One additional adult ticket may be added on at time of purchase.
Camper must be 2 - 4 years old at the time of the program.

Welcome to My Biome
From deserts and rainforests to ponds and polar regions, life can be found in even the harshest of climates. Wild Discoveries
Is your camper ready for a wild adventure at the zoo? Join us in "Wild Discoveries"  camp where we will start each day asking the question, “What would happen if...?” During camp, they'll have the opportunity to meet some amazing animals, explore exhibits and natural areas, and conduct fun experiments. They will also get a chance to put their inquiry and problem solving skills to the test as they learn about conservation and the importance of protecting the environment.

This camp is for children entering 1st or 2nd grade in the fall of 2023.

Conservation Explorers

Nature Adventures is perfect for your young naturalist! Campers will spend their days learning about local and zoo wildlife through free exploration, art, games, animal encounters and field research. Campers should come dressed and ready for a full day of outdoor exploration and adventure that will leave them with a new appreciation for wildlife and the natural world that surrounds the zoo!

Conservation Explorers

Little Zoo Vets
Ever wonder what it would be like to be a zoo veterinarian? What do you do when a tiger has a tooth ache or an elephant has a sore foot? How do you anesthetize a fish or an aardvark? Does a walrus say "ah"? In this after-camp class, students will learn about the different aspects of zoo veterinary medicine taught by WCS veterinarian Dr. John Sykes. Classes will involve real veterinary medicine equipment and supplies. Students will gain an appreciation of what zoo veterinarians do every day and how animals at the zoo are cared for.

This class is designed for students entering 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade in the fall of 2023. This is an after camp program that meets from 3pm-4:30pm with a very limited class size.

Conservation Collaborators
When it comes to saving wildlife, generating solutions isn’t always easy! This summer, campers will take on conservation challenges through the perspective of key stakeholders in conservation, including scientists, local community members, and government officials. Through up-close animal encounters, exhibit visits, and science exploration, campers will learn what it takes to make environmental solutions come to life!

Campers must be entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade in the fall of 2023.

Zoo Vet Academy
Has your middle schooler ever thought about being a veterinarian? If so, this class is perfect. Taught by WCS zoo veterinarian Dr. John Sykes, we will explore veterinary medicine from a "wild" perspective! Using a combination of live animals, real veterinary equipment, and custom-designed models, we will learn about how the vets use medicine and surgery to help keep all the animals at the zoo healthy—from the fish to the elephants!

This class is designed for students entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade in the fall of 2023. This is an after camp program that meets from 3-4:30pm with a very limited class size.

Natural New York
In this two-week experience, teens will explore the Bronx Zoo through the lens of the urban wildlife and the biodiversity that exists in New York City’s green spaces. Through up-close animal encounters, exhibit exploration, and field research, campers will discover how species exploit and adapt to their ecosystems. They'll also find out why having diverse green spaces is necessary to support urban biodiversity in New York and around the world. 

Teen camp participants will receive two camp shirts with their registration.
Campers must be entering 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade in the fall of 2023.

This jam-packed birthday adventure will delight kids and adults alike with activities, a scavenger hunt in one of the zoo's most popular exhibits, and special animal guests. You and your guests will have a private party space for the duration of the event and a dedicated conservation educator to ensure an unforgettable experience!

Your morning just got wild with this special before-hours program! Your family will learn about bears through fun and engaging activities. After meeting a small ambassador animal up close, our educators will guide you to our Brown Bear Den to watch as the bears enjoy their exhibit and chat with a zookeeper who cares for them.

Saturday, April 15, 2023: Jungle World
Your morning just got wild with this special before-hours program! Your family will learn about the rainforest and the animals that inhabit it through fun and engaging activities. After meeting an animal up close, our educators will guide you to Jungle World to watch as the rainforest animals enjoy their exhibits and chat with a zookeeper who cares for them.

All ages are welcome, but this is recommended for ages 3+. Tickets are per person, and children must be accompanied by an adult.

Looking for a creative and fun class for you and your little one? Come learn all about wildlife in our Wild Wonders program where you and your child will meet an animal up close, enjoy a guided tour of an exhibit, and engage in multiple activities to explore the wild world, including games, art, dramatic, and sensory play!

This all-girls nature experience will excite your child's curiosity while inspiring independence, confidence, and creativity! During this three-session outdoor series your child will explore the natural world using scientific skills and tools. They will observe and study local wildlife along the Bronx River, documenting their findings in nature journals and through the creation of nature art, while learning about female scientists that do similar work. Participants will receive a nature kit to explore with each session.

Session One: Sundays - March 12th,19th, 26th

This program will take place mostly outdoors and includes walking outside on uneven surfaces.

This drop-off program is for children ages 8-12 years.

Is there a young future zookeeper in your life? This program is the perfect fit! Participants will learn what it takes to care for wild animals in this fun and educational drop-off experience.

Sea Lions - April 1, 2023
Have you ever wondered how zookeepers take care of the sea lions at the Bronx Zoo? Participants will get an up close animal encounter with a small animal ambassador, help make enrichment for our animals, and practice the skills needed to take care of these majestic marine mammals!

Butterflies and Barnyard - May 20, 2023
Have you ever wondered how zookeepers take care of the butterflies and barnyard animals at the Bronx Zoo? Participants will get an up close animal encounter with a small animal ambassador, help make enrichment for our animals, and practice the skills needed to take care of these interactive animals!

This is a drop off program for children ages 8-12 years old.

Join us in person for an afternoon of conversation with wildlife conservation professionals. You will hear about work WCS and others are doing around the world to protect wildlife and engage in intimate discussion groups to learn more.

Zoonotic Diseases - April 29, 2023
Learn about WCS’s involvement with the One World - One Health movement. Talk with veterinary experts that work around the world to identify and prevent new wildlife diseases, and discover how protecting wildlife can help protect humans from future global pandemics. Conservation professionals will share their work and valuable insights, and then participants will dive deeper through discussion with each other and the experts.

Ticket includes full admission.
 

Gather your Girl Scout or Cub Scout group for a fun filled day at the Zoo! Groups will have the opportunity to explore the Zoo with limited admission tickets, take an educational tour, create an art activity, and complete a scavenger hunt for a small prize! All Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts will earn a Bronx Zoo patch! This program will involve walking outside. Most pathways are wheelchair accessible.
