QZ Summer Camp
Queens Zoo is WILD about summer camp! We bring all the fun of Zoo Camp with health and safety as a top priority.

Participants in this program will spend plenty of time outdoors during a range of weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and precipitation, as well as travel over uneven, natural surfaces. Accommodations may be available. Please contact us for more information.

Extended Care is a great add-on option for caregivers who can't pick their camper up at 3:00pm, allowing caregivers to pick up anytime before 5:00pm. Extended Care includes free play, exhibit visits, and nature play exploration (weather permitting). Add on items like Extended Care and additional camp t-shirts when adding your selected camp purchase to your cart.

Animal Senses
You and your child can learn about how animals use their senses to explore their world. Join us for this week-long experience. Through movement, song and nature explorations each day, you and your child will learn about a different one of the 5 senses and compare our senses to animas in the Zoo. Meet some of our animal friends up close too.

One ticket covers one adult and one child. Camper must be 18 mos - 3 yrs old at the time of the program. Price per week - pair this with the 4 day Home for Animals camp.

Home for Animals
You and your child can learn how animals can find a home in the ground, up in trees, in the water and even in our homes, too. Join us for this 4 day experience. Through movement, song and nature explorations each day, you and your child will learn about the place where animals can live. Meet some of our animal friends up close, too.

Sense Like the Animals Do
Campers will discover the adaptations that help animals sense the world around them. They can explore how snakes smell with their tongues or how eagles can find food a mile away with their keen eyesight. Each day will be spent learning about different animal senses through activities, games and up-close observations.

Where the Wild Things Live
Campers will explore all of the places where animals can live. Some build nests in trees, some dig burrows and some just hide in the bushes. Your child will explore the Zoo to look for wild animal homes and learn how we provide the best shelter for the Zoo animals, too. They can even build their own shelter in our nature play space. Each day they will explore through activities, play, and up-close animal experiences.

Animal Superheroes
Each day campers will explore the amazing superpowers that different animals have. Whether they are as fast as a car or can leap tall campers in a single bound, every animal can be a superhero. By the end of the week, campers will create their own imaginary super animals that demonstrate some of the adaptations that they studied. Camp includes up-close animal encounters, visits to exhibits, and hands-on activities!

This drop off camp is designed for Pre-schoolers and those entering Kindergarten in the fall of 2022. Campers must be 4 years old on or before their first day of camp. Price is per week. Sign up for all three different Kinderzoo camps!

Zoo Academy
Your camper can join us to learn about animals through science, math, reading and wild explorations around the zoo. Campers can learn to measure and count out animal foods and provide them with shelter. Through games, crafts and other activities they will discover how we enrich the lives of our animals everyday. Finally, by the end of the week they will graduate the academy as budding animal experts.

Animals Like Us
Campers will spend the week looking at how animals are similar or different from us. They will explore how animals eat, move, and sense the world around us. Can they jump like a puma or crawl like turtle? This program will give them a chance to find out through experiments, games and up-close animal experiences

Wild Animal Music
Animals "talk" through whistles, tweets, trumpets and an orchestra of other sounds. Come and explore our wonderfully musical world of animals in the Zoo. Through games, experiments and some instrument making of their own, campers can learn about animal sounds and communication. Camp includes up-close animal encounters, visits to exhibits and hands-on activities!

Become a super sleuth and join us for an exploration of the mysterious animals that live in the Americas. Each day campers will use the scientific process to identify a new surprise animal. Through experiments, and observations of animal adaptations, habitats, and habits, they will solve the mystery and identify an amazing animal. Camp includes up-close animal encounters, visits to exhibits and hands-on activities!

One week per camper, but you can sign up for a 5-day Animals Through Time camp as well. This camp is for children entering 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade in the fall of 2022.

Through explorations of prehistoric animals like dinosaurs and comparisons to animals like birds today, campers discover how certain adaptations have helped a species survive. From scales, to feathers or fur, and through observations and experiments of body structures and behaviors campers will learn about animals in our world. Camp includes up-close animal encounters, visits to exhibits and hands-on activities!

Junior Scientist (entering 6th-8th grade)

Conservation Scientists
Campers discover how WCS scientists, artists, and exhibit designers replicate the natural areas we protect around the globe in our zoo. During this week of camp, your child can learn how WCS studies these habitats and educates and inspires visitors about the animals that live there. Through engaging activities, exhibit visits, and animal demonstrations, campers will gain a new understanding of zoo exhibit design. Campers will use what they have learned to then explore some of the natural areas around the zoo and create their own model exhibit!

Campers must be entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade in the fall of 2022. 

 
QZ Scout Programs

Evening Adventures (Daisies, Brownies, Juniors)

Join us for a fun learning experience after-hours at the Zoo. Explore exhibits during a night walk, meet animals up-close, and create an amazing project to learn more about conservation actions. Scouts will receive a special Zoo patch to remember the evening, and everyone will have a tasty snack. All scouts must be accompanied by an adult.

QZ Early Childhood Programs

Family Science Adventures (ages 1-5 w/caregiver)

Family Science Adventures is a bilingual program designed for early learners to explore through fun outdoor experiments and observations. Each session includes a tour, free-play experiences, and an animal encounter. Topics change monthly and explore seasonal highlights of the Queens Zoo.

One ticket covers one caregiver and one child. The price is for one date (you may purchase mulitple dates, of course!). One caregiver is required to attend with each registered child. QZ Birthday Parties
Birthday parties at the Queens Zoo combine festive activities with live animal encounters and Zoo visits! Choose one of our fun age appropriate themes and make your child's birthday one to remember.

You may add up to 10 additional people to your group for an additional fee.

QZB Animal Movers and Shakers (ages 3-5 years)

Bees, birds and even bison have something amazing in common - they are great engineers! Discover how animals move, design, and build to provide themselves with the tools and shelters they need to survive in their ecosystem.

On the Move - November 7, 2021
Jump, hop, run or walk. Animals are adapted to move in all sorts of ways. Explore the mechanics of animal movement through experiments and upclose animal studies.

Oh Behave - November 14, 2021
Animals behave in all sorts of ways. Here in the Zoo, keepers make sure that animals have lots of exciting experiences. Discover how scientists study animal behavior and use that information so that keepers can design fun and even delicious things to enrich the experiences of our Zoo animals.

If You Build It? - November 21, 2021
Caring for our Zoo animals starts with building an amazing space for them to live. Through a study of wild animal habitats, learn how to design a Zoo habitat that provides all of the essentials that an animal needs to live well at the Zoo.

Keeping It Real - December 5, 2021
No matter how they move and behave or their amazing habitats, animals at the Zoo rely on the care and attention of our zookeeper staff. Do you have what it takes to be zookeeper? Meet one and spend some time doing what they do in the Zoo.

The first job of a keeper is learning how to take care of the places where our animals live. Explore animal exhibits and learn what needs to be accomplished before the Zoo opens its doors everyday.

Training is an important aspect of caring for animals. Learn how keepers train animals like sea lions so that can be fed easily, cared for and get the excercise they need.

Healthy as a Horse - Vet Care in the Zoo - March 20, 2022
From the simplest exams to the most important health care procedures, our animals get the best care there is from veterinarians and vet technicians. Discover what it takes to be an animal doctor.

Enriching Experiences - March 27, 2022
We want all of our animals to be healthy and happy. One thing that keepers do is enrich the lives of animals in many ways. You will learn about some of these enrichment activities and make some for our animals, too.

Feeling a Little Sheepy - May 6, 2022
Join us for a fun time on the farm. Learn about how we care for our domesticated friends and how important they can be for us. You’ll make a craft with wool from our newly sheared sheep, meet some animals up close and end the evening with snacks and a fun story.
