QZ Summer Camp
Queens Zoo is WILD about summer camp! We bring all the fun of Zoo Camp with health and safety as a top priority.

Participants in this program will spend plenty of time outdoors during a range of weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and precipitation, as well as travel over uneven, natural surfaces. Accommodations may be available. Please contact us for more information.

Zoo Camp runs from 9:00AM - 3:00PM **. We now offer Extended Care from 3:00PM to 5:00PM. Extended Care includes free play, exhibit visits, and nature play exploration. Add-on items such as Extended Care and additional camp t-shirts can be purchased once you add a week of camp to your shopping cart.

In this 3-session mini-camp, we will explore the zoo and learn about a variety of animal coverings - including their colors and textures. We will engage in sensory activities, crafts, and animal encounters throughout the week. This hour and a half long program is for a child and their caregiver.

Learning your ABZ's
Campers and their grownup will come to the zoo to explore the many things that start with the Letters of the Day. We will do letter-related crafts and have close animal encounters throughout the week! This is an hour-and-a-half long program is for a child and their caregiver.

Barnyard Bonanza

Animal Caretakers
Campers will have an opportunity to explore zoo exhibits and see what it takes to care for our animals at the zoo. From feeding and cleaning to providing shelter and enrichment, caring for animals is not an easy job. In this amazing program, campers will explore the jobs of zoo keepers, veterinarians, field biologists, and more!

Mysteries of the Animal Kingdom
There's a mystery and our campers need to solve it! Each day, campers will collect clues and put them together to figure out that day’s mystery animal. There will be close up animal encounters, exhibit visits, craft time, and plenty of games! Can we gather evidence, connect the dots, and crack the animal-case?

Eco-Investigators!
All around the world, there are unique ecosystems that contain plants and animals found nowhere else! How do these organisms survive and what makes them so special? Through investigations of zoo exhibits and animals, campers will find out what it takes to be a survivor.

STEM Stewards
Campers have an amazing opportunity during this camp to learn the ways they can help the environment and put those tactics into action! Using the zoo, technology and up-close animal encounters, campers will participate in experiments, crafts, and games to tackle the pressing wildlife conservation issues of our time!

Animal Transformations
From paramecium to pumas, campers will explore the evolutionary tree of life and learn how animals diversified from single celled organisms to become what they are today! Using the tools of a scientist, they get a closer look at animal species to see how they have adapted to environmental influences like climate change, animal interactions and human impacts.

Campers must be entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade in the fall of 2023.

Family Nature Club - Club de la Naturaleza

Come join our family nature play club where you get to learn about urban wildlife, make nature-based crafts, play games and bond with your family at the zoo.

During each of our Family Nature Club sessions, we hope to empower you and yur families to explore nature by creating opportuniites to interact with the natural world. During each meeting, families will have a chance to explore outside and participate in seasonal outdoor play activities together. Join us for one or more sessions during the season.

This program is reccommended for ages 1- 5 w/ Caregiver. Fee is per session.

 

Family Science Adventures (ages 1-5 w/caregiver)

Family Science Adventures is a bilingual program designed for early learners to explore through fun outdoor experiments and observations. Each session includes a tour, free-play experiences, and an animal encounter. Topics change monthly and explore seasonal highlights of the Queens Zoo.

Science of Spring/ La Ciencia de la Primavera dates: 2/18/2023, 3/4/2023, 3/18,2023, 4/1/2023, 4/22/2023, 5/6/2023

One ticket covers one caregiver and one child. The price is for one date (you may purchase mulitple dates, of course!). One caregiver is required to attend with each registered child. If you would like to add on one additional participant, you may do so during check out (add-on tickets are very limited).
 

 
QZ Birthday Parties
Birthday parties at the Queens Zoo combine festive activities with live animal encounters and Zoo visits! Choose one of our fun age appropriate themes and make your child's birthday one to remember.

You may add up to 10 additional people to your group for an additional fee.

Chilly Changes
The earth is always changing but our climate is changing faster than ever before. Each day campers will explore what climate really means and how changes in climate affect wildlife and us too. Through exhibit visits, experiments and up-close encounters, tehy will learn about ways that we might be able to reverse the effects of climate changes in our time.

Spring Forward Camp
Come explore the Queens Zoo when the frosty winter defrosts into the bountiful springtime. In this five-day camp, campers will plant seeds, create plant crafts, have many close animal encounters with animal friends, and go around the Zoo to learn about what our animals do this time of year!


This drop-off camp is for children ages 5-10.

Understanding Ungulates - March 5, 2023
Hoof it around the zoo to learn about our hoofstack and discover what makes them so special. You'll learn about their diet and special needs and understand the differences betwee browsers and grazers.

Caring for Cats- March 12, 2023
Learn about some of ou more mysterious zoo animals - our wild cats! Discover how keepers care for these amazing predators. Spend time observing them as they play and pounce around thir exhibit.

For the Birds -  March 26, 2023
Queens Zoo has more birds in its care than any other animal group. Discover how keepers keep track of all of them , feed them special diets and provide the best enrichment for each species.

Down on the Farm - April 2, 2023
Humas have spent thousands of year domesticating animals to be able to coexist with us. Come and meet our farm animals and learn how we care for them and in return how they also provide us with some of the things that we need to survive too.

This is a drop-off program for children 10-13 years old.

Pajama Story Time - Hora del cuento en pijama

Join us for a fun time learning about some of the Latin American animals in our zoo and the important work that we are doing to help them in the wild. Craft your own animal mask, meets some animals up-close and end the evening with some snacks and great stories.

QZ Overnights
Join us for an exciting learning experience after hours, including games, animal interactions and a night hike.

Bring your family to spend the night at the zoo and learn more about our amazing animals. You and your family will be treated to fun-filled educational activities that ensure you’ll leave this extraordinary event with memories your family will treasure.
